Water loss occurrences often come unexpectedly, but they present an opportunity to make the upgrades you’ve been looking forward to. Kitchen cabinet refacing and new custom cabinets can create the space that fits your needs by updating the existing cabinets and adding new ones where needed.
Location: Key Largo, Aliso Viejo, CA
Project Type: Kitchen Cabinet Refacing with New Custom Island
For this client, we created a custom kitchen island with dark gray supermatte thermofoil, topped with a butcherblock countertop finished in beautiful white-tinted Odie’s Oil. The white tint keeps the wood looking natural, avoiding the yellow amber hues that typically result from using mineral oil or butcherblock oil. Odie’s Oil is 100% food safe, solvent-free, and non-toxic, making it the perfect choice for butcher blocks, cutting boards, and various woodworking projects.
Before the kitchen cabinet refacing, we made several modifications to the existing cabinets:
• Built a new, deeper cabinet over the fridge for a cleaner look and extra storage for infrequently used items
• Removed the cabinet over the hood, raised it up, and bumped it out to create a staggered look and a better focal point
• Created a three-drawer bank left of the cooktop for easy access
• Replaced the waste roll-out system with a new Rev-A-Shelf unit
After refacing the kitchen in high-quality thermofoil laminate, we installed new moldings, new dovetailed drawers with Blum Tandem glides, and new thermofoil doors with Blum soft-close hinges.
Benefits of Thermofoil: The thermofoil material is an excellent choice for a busy household due to its durability, ease of cleaning, and great appearance. Thermofoil is non-porous, making it resistant to stains, unlike painted wood. It is also much more difficult to chip or scratch compared to painted wood cabinets, and it can be cleaned with standard household cleaners, such as 409.
